How old are you and where are you from?
Erik: I am 36 and from Baltimore, MD
How old were you when you realized you wanted to be a writer?
Erik: Not exactly sure. I know it was after I graduated from college. I had a degree in Computer Animation and my demo reel was focused on Animation. While going through the final courses, I had to take different writing classes and I started a serial on the side. I started to realize that I was more interested in coming up with the story and the characters.
Tell us more about your book! What inspired you to write it?
Erik: Before college, I heard a song on the radio, Kryptonite by 3 doors down. To summarize the song, (to me anyway) was about a person questioning if the person/people that they have been protecting will take care of them when they are down and out. That idea stuck with me. I was also interested in seeing something different in the superhero genre. I wrote the idea down back then, but I forgot I wrote it down. Over the years I kept thinking about it and the idea evolved without me realizing it.
If you could relate to any character in your book, who would it be and why?
Erik: I suppose I can relate to all of them in some aspect. When I write, I try not to write characters that make decision based off of how I would handle the situation. But I can't remove myself completely since I can only base my writing off of what I have experienced, heard, or encountered over the years. But yeah, none of the characters are close to my personality.
What type of books do you enjoy? What are two of your favorites?
Erik: To be honest, I haven't read that many books. I stick to fiction. I don’t have a favorite genre at the moment. Top favorite titles? I'm enjoying The Witcher Series, and I really liked Fight Club.
Besides reading and writing, what else do you enjoy doing during your free time? Do you have any other businesses?
Erik: I do art; mainly digital art. I'm a gamer too. I like to get out in the world and in nature, sightseeing, travel, people watch, watch movies, and learn new things.
I
f you could pick any song to describe your main character, what would it be?
Erik: Man... that is a hard one. I haven't based my characters on songs before. I've used songs for the vibe of the story or for the scene but not for the character themselves.
Do you have any upcoming books in the works?
Erik: I do. I'm working on another fantasy novel at the moment and I'm going put out an Anthology of sci-fi short stories. I've got about 5 shorts so far for the it and a bunch of other ideas.
Do you have any book specials/giveaways or events coming up?
Erik: Nope. I haven't thought about doing any giveaways or anything. Maybe on the next book. I was thinking about and I might still create an art book for my first novel.
