In The Spotlight Today: Coral McCallum!

How old are you and where are you from?

Old enough not to care about my age! LOL I turned 50 a few months ago. Age is only a number. I’m a teenager at heart!

I live in a small town called Gourock on the west coast of Scotland, about 30 miles from Glasgow.

Tell us more about your book!

The Silver Lake series is a five book series following the lives of Jake Power, Lori Hyde and the rock band Silver Lake. The books are set in the small Delaware town of Rehoboth Beach, a place very close to my own heart. The series sees the relationship between Jake and Lori bloom and blossom and also the career of Silver Lake go from strength to strength. I have tried to keep the storyline and characters believable. This is a contemporary romance series along a rock music theme rather than a sleazy rock star romance. I’ve tried to show that there’s more to it than the two hours on stage every night and that these guys are real people underneath. It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions and the final book in the series, Long Shadows, which is due out in early 2021 will be no less emotional. Keep those Kleenex handy!

What does your ideal writing space look like?

Sunny! I write my first drafts longhand and love sitting outdoors in the sun to write. Indoors, I have a small cluttered desk in the corner of my living room. I like to feel secure with my things around me and my music playing.

If your book was turned into a movie, who would play your main characters?

Oh good question! Charlie Hunnam could make a great Jake Power. As for Lori Hyde, I’m not sure. Maybe Anne Hathaway. … need to think about that.

You’re stranded on an island, and only one character from any book can save you. Who are you picking?

Aragorn from Lord of the Rings. If we were including tv shows here too then Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy would do very nicely.

Besides being a writer, what else do you enjoy?

I love taking photographs! In a more “normal non-COVID” world I also love going to rock shows so really enjoy combining the two. Apart from that it’s the usual everyday things like reading, going for walks etc.

I also run two social media fan pages for real life rock star Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge and Slash ft Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators fame.

Do you have any upcoming book promotions?

There will be a few “freebie” days for the first four books in the Silver Lake series in the run up to the launch of Long Shadows. Keep an eye on my author page on Facebook for these surprise freebie events. Once the release date for Long Shadows is confirmed there will be a giveaway or two online too. Watch this space!
